We think carefully about the food and drink we provide in our care homes.
Good food is a hugely important part of life at our homes for many different reasons. Nutrition and hydration are obviously crucial for ensuring our physical health. But eating also impacts our overall wellbeing. This is why our focus is on nourishment, in every sense of the word.
Our recipe for this is a choice of delicious homecooked meals, a welcoming and social dining experience – and a dash of fun.
Tempting and tasty
Our cooks make all meals on site, ensuring these are nutrionally balanced with fresh, quality ingredients. You’ll find firm favourites such as roasts and pie on the menu, along with more adventurous options, so there is plenty to tempt the tastebuds.
We take time to learn personal preferences, recording likes and dislikes in care plans, along with any dietary requirements.
Make your own menu choices
Having the freedom to decide what you want to eat is important, so we offer a choice at every meal.
-
Start the day with a cooked breakfast, or perhaps you would prefer porridge or a selection of cereals, fruit salad, fruit juices and toast with jam or marmalade.
-
For lunch, there are two hot options, served with vegetables or salad. Desserts include traditional hot puddings and fruit salad.
-
Afternoon tea comes with scrumptious homemade cakes or biscuits.
-
At supper, we offer soup, sandwiches and a daily special.
-
Tempting snacks and a variety of drinks are available throughout the day.
We keep a close eye on nutritional needs and provide respectful assistance where needed. All meals, including pureed are attractively presented to encourage a healthy and balanced diet.
Dining at our care homes
Sharing meals with others creates a sense of connection and security, so our dining rooms allow everyone to sit down together and socialise. There is a warm, homely atmosphere and guests are more than welcome to join us.
When you prefer to be somewhere a little quieter, there are small areas in our lounges where you can eat, and we also serve meals in rooms.
Eating for pleasure
We find many creative ways to encourage a real enjoyment of food at our care homes, with coffee mornings, sherry parties, cheese and wine tasting, treats dipped in chocolate fountains and more.
Themed activities and menus are always popular and we take our inspiration from seasonal celebrations as well as awareness days and months. Explore dishes from around the world, try something new or reminisce about old favourites. There are plenty of opportunities to have fun with food, while keeping a focus on nutrition and hydration.
